IMW

Global Institute

Events in North America

The IMW(NA) organizes wine-tastings, seminars and presentations in the U.S. and Canada for Masters of Wine, MW students, the wine trade, media, and students in other wine programs—all to further knowledge and promote the highest level of wine education.

Currently, the IMW(NA) hosts an annual fall Champagne tasting in two U.S. cities, New York and San Francisco. It also periodically conducts other wine-tasting events, such as a comprehensive tasting of Austrian wines or a tasting of major Barolo and Barbaresco wines.

Past Events include tasting seminars of German wines in cooperation with the German Wine Information Bureau, “Hot Topics” tasting seminars that focused on key trends, a “behind the scenes of terroir and winemaking” event in cooperation with Bordeaux’s Château Palmer, and a technical seminar on the effects and application of oak with Taransaud Tonnellerie.

The IMW(NA) also conducts introductory programs for prospective applicants throughout the year in various North American cities.

"Rarely have I had the opportunity to taste so many outstanding champagnes in one afternoon as I did at your event.  Moreover, I was most impressed with the low key and efficient way in which the tasting was organised.  I very much appreciated being able to pour and taste the wines myself at my own pace, and to use your excellent tasting sheets to prepare my notes."
