IMW

Global Institute

North America

In North America, the Institute of Masters of Wine aims to promote the highest standards of education and professionalism in the wine trade within North America.

We organise educational activities and foster the progress of qualified individuals through the Master of Wine Education Program.

What we do

In North America, the Institute dedicates itself primarily to furthering the educational development of Master of Wine students within North America, and to providing educational opportunities to the greater wine trade in the US and Canada.

The annual residential seminar in the Napa Valley, organized principally by North American MWs, is one of the Institute's main educational vehicles, and is one of five seminars that the global Institute organizes.

The IMW(NA) organizes Course Days (one-day programs) for current students to enable them to refresh their skills, as well as introductory "open door" presentations in various cities for potential students, to provide a taste of the MW program, exam and organization.

In keeping with its education goals, the IMW (NA) organizes several wine tastings and seminars each year.  These events provide unique tasting and/or academic learning opportunities not only to MW students but also to the professional wine community at large.

The IMW (NA) also supports the study of MW students through the disbursement of scholarships.
