Biography
Mary is a WSET Wine Educator at the International Wine Center, New York City, wine columnist for the highly popular blog and website www.thekitchn.com, freelance wine writer and wine judge.
Areas of specialization include Champagne & sparkling wine, Central & Eastern Europe, as well as the business and marketing of wine.
Prior to her life in wine, Mary held various senior marketing positions in Ireland and Paris, France including five years with the Irish Government trade agency helping Irish companies market themselves internationally, and three years with an internet consultancy helping clients build brands and business online. Mary also lectured in International Marketing Strategy at The UCD Graduate Business School, Dublin.
Mary has a BA (Honors) in Languages and International Marketing from Dublin City University and an MBS (First Class Honors) from the University College Dublin (UCD) Graduate School of Business, and was awarded both the Dean's List Award & the Sir Charles Harvey Award for academic excellence in post-graduate studies
Mary lived and worked in Paris for six years and speaks fluent French.
Mary is a member of the Society of Wine Educators in the US and a regular speaker at their annual conference. An avid food lover and cook, Mary spends many week-ends exploring the farmers' markets of New York with her husband and son, Luca.
An Irish national, Mary moved to the US in 2002.
