Jane Skilton began her wine career 25 years ago in the United Kingdom and passed her Master of Wine examination in 1993. She moved to Auckland in 2000 with her family. Jane's main focus is writing for the Independent Wine Monthly, www.independentwinemonthly.co.nz, her online wine review website. She is also the Wine Editor for the Foodtown magazine and contributes to a number of wine publications. Jane is Chairman of the International Chardonnay Challenge, a senior judge at the NZ International Wine Show, the Liquorland Top 100 and the Hawke's Bay A & P Wine Show. She was invited to Tokyo to judge the Japan Wine Challenge, Asia's largest wine show in 2003 and since then has been the guest international judge at the Australian Small Winemakers Show, the Margaret River Wine Show and the Rutherglen Wine Show. In 2003 Jane established the New Zealand School of Wines and Spirits, teaching WSET® wine courses to the trade and consumers.
