Every year and around the world the Institute hosts events which offer an unparalleled opportunity to taste with and learn from the experts. Our tastings and master classes are almost always open to members of the public with a serious interest in fine wine.   2. Winemakers' Winemaker Award

    5 March 2012 , 6:15 PM - 8:00 PM

    The Institute, in conjunction with The Drinks Business, will present the Winemakers' Winemaker Award during ProWein in Germany, one of the world's largest wine trade events. The award, introduced in 2011, recognises outstanding achievement in the field of winemaking. Attendance is by invitation only.

  3. Residential Master Class, Tuscany

    18 - 20 March 2012 , 12:00 PM - 4:00 PM

    The Institute of Masters of Wine and the Istituto Grandi Marchi, a major supporter of the Institute's work, are delighted to confirm a unique master class to introduce Italian wine professionals to the Master of Wine qualification. Delegates at the two-and-a-half day event at Tenuta Tignanello will participate in a series of tastings, workshops and tutorials aimed at preparing them for the Institute's study programme.

  4. Oak Seminar, London

    17 April 2012 , 9:30 AM - 5:00 PM

    The Institute and Taransaud Tonnellerie are delighted to present this unique seminar in London which will explore the role of oak barrels in the production of wine, illustrated with a tasting of barrel samples and finished wines. Further details will be posted in due course.

  5. MW Sicily Trip

    11 - 19 May 2012

    The Institute will stage a field trip to the viticultural regions of Sicily in May 2012. This trip is only open to MWs. Please see the Members' Area of the website for further information.

  6. The Masters of Wine Examination

    6 - 9 June 2012

    The Theory and Practical papers are examined concurrently over four days in three centres: Napa (USA); Sydney (Australia) and London (UK).

  7. Institute Annual General Meeting, London

    19 September 2012 , 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM

    The Institute's Annual General Meeting, which is open to Masters of Wine only, will be held in Vintners' Hall. Further details will be circulated to members in due course.

  8. MW Geisenheim Trip

    21 - 23 September 2012

    The theme for the trip, the tenth undertaken by the Institute in partnership with Geisenheim, will be German and international sparkling wines. This event is only open to MWs and Institute students. Further details will be circulated in due course.

  9. MW South Africa Trip

    23 - 29 September 2012

    This field trip to South Africa, staged in conjunction with Wines of South Africa, is open to MWs only.
