Biography

I worked for Marks & Spencer for 32 years as a buyer in the Food division. My love of wine dates back 25 years and led me to study for wine qualifications in the mid-1990s (culminating with the WSET Diploma). I started the Master of Wine programme in 2005, following encouragement from a number of friends in the wine industry, as I wanted to further my knowledge of the subject. I started buying wines for M&S in early 2007 with responsibility for Burgundy, Bordeaux, Loire, Fine Wines, Italy, Chile, Argentina, North America, South Africa, England, Port and Sherry - over 250 active sku's at any one time. In 2013, I left M&S to set up my own business (Vinetrades) which is involved in consultancy, buying and investment in wine. I am a regular wine judge, chairing the judging panel for SEVA (South Eastern Vineyards Association) for seven years, as well as judging Burgundy wines at the Decanter World Wine Awards, acting as a Senior judge at the IWC and have judged in Spain for Bacchus in 2014. I have written for Decanter and consult for Wilton's Music Hall.
