Biography

Having completed a BSc (Hons) in Anatomy and Structural Biology, Emma decided a more sociable career was in order and instead pursued her passion for wine.

She worked for seven years as a Fine Wine and Education Specialist at Scenic Cellars in Taupo, New Zealand's premier independent wine store and in that time studied Winemaking and Viticulture at Hawke's Bay's EIT.

In conjunction with Jane Skilton MW, Emma teaches both general education and the more specialized WSET courses to the trade and to consumers throughout the country.

Emma continues to hone her skills judging wine, both at local and international competitions, is wine columnist for the Australian Women's Weekly NZ Edition and is editor of The Independent Wine Monthly, providing forthright independent commentary and reviews.
