  1. DC Flynt MW becomes a Supporter of the Institute

    We are very pleased to welcome MACH Flynt, Inc./DC Flynt MW Selections of Lake Charles, Louisiana, as a Supporter of the Institute of Masters of Wine. DC Flynt MW, who is the founder and CEO/President of MACH Flynt, Inc./DC Flynt MW Selections, passed the Master of Wine Exam in 1998 and became the 16th American MW.

  2. IMW Hong Kong master class announced - May 2015

    The Institute of Masters of Wine, in collaboration with Berry Bros & Rudd, is organising an MW Master Class to be held in Hong Kong in May 2015.

  3. Registration for the 2015 MW Examination and First Year Assessment is now open

    1 April 2015

    Students must register by 29 April 2015 if they intend to sit the Examination in 2015. Links to the registration pages are available in the Student area of the website. First Year Assessment takes place on 8 June 2015 and the Examination for Second Year Students is on 9, 10, 11 and 12 June 2015. Good luck to all those sitting the Examination this year!

  4. Institute of Masters of Wine announces Sydney 2010 Bordeaux tasting

    The Institute of Masters of Wine (IMW) will host its annual Bordeaux tasting in Sydney on Sunday, 19 April 2015 mirroring the iconic tasting held in London each year. The tasting, held for just the third time in Australia, will show a line-up of 60 wines from the Grands Crus Classés properties of the Médoc and their right bank equivalents. The tasting is being held at the Radisson Blu, Sydney, with all wines from the 2010 vintage.

  5. Celebrations as five new Masters of Wine join Institute

    The Institute of Masters of Wine is delighted to welcome five new Masters of Wine, from three different continents, into the Membership. The announcement brings the total number of Masters of Wine to 323, in 24 countries. One of the new Masters of Wine is Australian; two are Canadian; and two are British. They bring with them into the Institute decades of experience across the wine trade, from retail to winemaking, wine journalism to wine education.

  6. Trentodoc becomes Institute Supporter

    The Institute of Masters of Wine is delighted to announce that Trentodoc, the organisation representing the appellation (Denominazione di origine controllata) for white and rosé sparkling wine in Trentino, Italy, has become a Supporter of the Institute.

  7. Egon Müller wins Winemakers’ Winemaker Award 2015

    Today at ProWein the Institute of Masters of Wine and international publication The Drinks Business announced Egon Müller as the recipient of the 2015 Winemakers’ Winemaker Award.

  8. Masters of Winemaking tasting comes to ProWein

    A selection of Master of Wine winemakers is to serve their own wines at a walk-around tasting at ProWein. The tasting, which is a reprise of a hugely successful similar event at the Institute’s 8th International Symposium in Florence in 2014, will reflect the global reach of the Master of Wine family. MW Winemaking expertise from France, Germany, Austria, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Spain, and South Africa will be on show.

  9. IMW student David Way wins inaugural Family of Twelve Scholarship

    New Zealand’s Family of Twelve, a fraternity made up of some of the country’s most prestigious and enduring artisanal wineries, has awarded its inaugural scholarship to David Way, a second year student in the Institute of Master of Wine’s Study Programme.
