MWs Shortlisted for 2009 André Simon Food & Drink Book Awards

09 Dec 09

Two Masters of Wine have been shortlisted for the 2009 André Simon Food & Drink Book Awards.

Among the four books shortlisted in this year’s Wine, Drinks and Beverages category are:

“Asian Palate” by Jeannie Cho Lee MW, published by Asset Publishing and Research

“What Price Bordeaux?” by Benjamin Lewin MW, published by Wine Appreciation Guild/Vendange

The MWs’ works, published in 2009, are among 10 books in line for the prestigious awards which commemorate the life and work of Andre Louis Simon (1877 – 1970). Simon was a leading London champagne shipper for more than 30 years, served as president of the Wine & Food Society for 33 years and wrote 104 books over a period of 66 years.

Masters of Wine have been regular winners in the awards over the past 30 years and the judging panel will announce the results of the 2009 awards in spring 2010.

The André Simon Memorial Fund was established in 1972 and one of its objectives is to benefit the public generally in the fields of food and drink. One of the ways in which the Fund meets this objective is through its annual Book Awards.
