Monsieur Jean-Pierre Moueix founded his wine merchant business in 1937 on the Quai du Priourat in Libourne.
At that time, the wines of Libourne were little known. Moueix was astute to foresee the Merlot grape’s ability to age, as well as its natural charm and ability to seduce. He spent his life promoting these wines internationally and, in the 1950s, he consolidated his merchant business with the acquisition of several well-known properties.
His second son, Christian (born in 1946) joined the family business in 1970, directing at first the agricultural activities. Several years later, he also assumed all commercial responsibilities before becoming President in 1991.
Today the firm of Ets. Jean-Pierre Moueix is owned by Christian Moueix and his children: Edouard, Director of Sales since 2003, and Charlotte. As well as owning many individual properties, the company also operates as a distributor and trades in many sucessful brand names.
Ets. Jean-Pierre Moueix is a regular contributor to Institute tastings and education events in Bordeaux.
