Waitrose

Waitrose is a long term Major Supporter of the Institute's education programme.

Waitrose joined the John Lewis Partnership in 1937 as a chain of 10 specialist food shops, with the first supermarket opening in 1955. It has worked with producers and growers, pioneering local and organic products and championing sustainable sourcing, to build a network of more than 220 shops around the UK known for the freshness, quality, safety and provenance of the food they sell.

Waitrose has more Masters of Wine than any other supermarket, and all its wines go through a rigorous quality control and tasting process. It also has wine specialists in its branches offering expert advice and has an illustrious track record for achievements in wine retailing. Waitrose has been voted, Retailer of the Year 2008, by The Drinks Business magazine for its overall performance, innovation and responsible approach to alcohol retailing. The food division's high standards and a focus on premium price points made it stand out for the judges.

For more information see either the John Lewis Partnership website or Waitrose website.
