The premium wine estate Schloss Vollrads became an Institute Supporter at the beginning of 2010 and provides annual support for the Institute's international education programme.
Schloss Vollrads is one of the oldest wine estates in the world and can trace its roots back to the 13th Century. Wine sales from the estate have been documented as early as 1211. The estate is focused on producing Riesling wines from its vineyards, which comprise 148 acres.
The castle of Schloss Vollrads is an historic monument and is one of the art-historical highlights of the Rheingau region, as well as being the heart of a working wine estate.
Schloss Vollrads’ goal is to produce Rieslings of the highest quality which exhibit the individuality and complexity of the Riesling grape as well as the authentic characteristics of its soil. Its tradition is one of commitment to quality and innovation.
Dr. Rowald Hepp, Managing Director of Schloss Vollrads said: “The Institute of Masters of Wine is the leading international body for education and quality awareness in the world of wine. Each and every estate or winemaker with passion and focus for quality benefits from its work as does the international wine trade and wine consumers around the world. Giving the Institute our support is not only an obligation but an honour for Schloss Vollrads and hopefully many other estates may follow our example.”
