• Award winning Masters of Wine include 100th woman MW

    The Institute of Masters of Wine welcomed six new Members last night at its Annual Award Ceremony and Reception, held in the London home of the 650-year-old Vintners’ Company. Prize-winning new MWs at this year’s ceremony, who were honoured for their exceptional performance in the Master of Wine Examination, included wine writers Natasha Hughes MW (UK) (who won four of the seven awards available) and Anne Krebiehl MW (Germany), plus Louise Sydbeck MW (Sweden).

  • The MW Examination 2014: successful Dissertations

    A précis for each of the six successful Dissertations submitted in 2014 by candidates for the Master of Wine Examination. The Dissertation, which was the third part of the Master of Wine Examination, has now been replaced (as of the 2015 Examination round) by the Research Paper.

    The new Chairman of the Institute of Masters of Wine is Sarah Jane Evans MW. Evans, who is the 52nd Chairman, is an award winning wine writer and author. She also judges and lectures internationally.

    Nomacorc is offering an opportunity to visit its global headquarters in Raleigh, North Carolina, USA. This one-day visit will focus on sharing the company’s latest research in oxygen management and how their closures are used to control and manage wine development. In addition, the program will offer a tour of their manufacturing facility where they produce nearly 7 million closures per day, and will also address their latest product innovations, including its new plant-based wine cork.

    Join fellow MW students for a two day intensive Napa Valley focus trip in advance of the January 16-21, 2015 Residential Seminar. The program is offered as a partnership between the IMW and the Napa Valley Vintners to provide a unique educational opportunity only to MW students who will be attending the Study Program in San Francisco.

Attendees took part in a series of panel discussions, debates, and tastings with leading figures from the world of wine, as well as in a succession of gala lunches and dinners in historic venues and wineries both in Florence itself and in the Tuscan countryside.
