#10 Germany

VIP meet and treat at Germany’s top wineries, accompanied by German Masters of Wine

The journey begins in Rheingau by tasting old vintages back to 1937 in Kloster Eberbach’s historic cabinet cellar and finishes with the outstanding 2003 Trockenbeerenauslese at Winery Robert Weil, harvested at an amazing 316° Oechsle. The Mosel provides the backdrop for the following days’ journey, first through time at Joh. Jos. Prüm, from dry to sweet with Nik Weis of St Urbans-Hof, and finally culminating in a tasting with wine legend Egon Müller at Scharzhof. Pfalz supplies the youngest wine of the trip: none other than the successful bidder’s own blend which will be specially bottled and labelled, created at Winery von Winning. Legendary vintages from Geh. Rat Dr. von Bassermann-Jordan are the next act and Baden plays host to the grand finale: a blind tasting of Premier and Grand Crus from Burgundy, versus German Pinot Noirs from matchless red wine producers Dr. Heger, Huber and Franz Keller (Schwarzer Adler).
