Dry Champagne masterclass

Join us for a unique lesson in mastering dry Champagne. With Brut champagnes receiving increasingly low dosages and the driest champagne categories Extra Brut and Brut Nature gaining foothold, Champagnes have become drier than ever. But dry Champagne is not an easy style to master as dosage offers many benefits. For this Dry Champagne masterclass we have invited four great Champagne producers to share their views and wines.

Jean-Baptiste Lécaillon, cellar master of the prestigious house of Louis Roederer and Charles Philipponnat, president of the terroir-driven maison Philipponnat, represent Champagne Houses that have ventured into Brut Nature production. Of the grower domains, Olivier Collin of Ulysse Collin was quick to attract a cult following for his meticulously crafted, lightly dosed champagnes. Simon Normand of La Borderie represents the newest wave of rocketing small producers representing the up-and-coming region of Côte des Bar. The tasting will be moderated by Champagne specialist Essi Avellan MW.

Guests will have the chance to purchase a signed copy of Essi Avellan MW's upcoming book, the fourth edition of The Christie's World Encyclopedia of Champagne and Sparkling Wines (£100 for those with MW or MW student tickets; £130 for those with general admission tickets).
