Introductory course: Alava, Spain

The Institute of Masters of Wine, in collaboration with La Fundación para la Cultura del Vino, is organising an introductory MW weekend to be held in Alava, Spain in April 2019.

As part of its annual calendar of outreach events, the IMW organises a variety of workshops and introductory classes to interested participants. The focus at these events is to introduce both its study programme and its examination by showcasing the MW approach to wine tasting and theory topics in a practical and relevant way.

The Spain programme will take place on 7 and 8 April 2019 and will be led by Masters of Wine Almudena Alberca MWPedro Ballesteros Torres MW, Andreas Kubach MW and Norrel Robertson MW. They will explain the MW approach to the examination syllabus with a special focus on the writing and tasting skills required to become a Master of Wine. The class will include several tastings of different wines from different regions of the world.

Attendees who are eligible to join the MW study programme in June 2019 will be given a discounted rate from the normal application fee.

Open to
: Interested professionals from all around the world who are highly motivated in relation to the wine world and the culture of wine. The whole class will be given in English. Attendees wishing to be considered for entry to the MW study programme must meet the IMW's entrance requirements – see here for more information.
