IMW and Austrian Wine Academy master class in Austria – June 2018

The Institute of Masters of Wine, in collaboration with the Austrian Wine Academy, is organising an Introductory MW Introductory Weekend to be held in Rust, Austria.

Through its members and activities, the Institute promotes excellence, interaction and learning, across all sectors of the global wine community.

As part of its annual calendar of outreach events, the Institute organises workshops and classes to introduce its study programme and examination through showcasing participants the MW approach to wine tasting and theory topics.

The Austrian programme will take place on 6 to 8 June 2018. A number of MWs will be leading the programme, including Dr Josef Schuller MW and Caro Maurer MW. They will explain the MW approach to the examination syllabus with a special focus on the writing and tasting skills required to become a Master of Wine. The class will include several tastings of different wines from different regions of the world. As well as tastings throughout the day, evening dinners are included as part of the programme and these will provide further tasting opportunities led by MWs and producers.

At the end of the session, attendees will be given the opportunity to take a practice entrance examination for which they will receive immediate in-class feedback. Attendees who are eligible to join the MW Study Programme will be given the chance to apply online for the Study Programme in June 2018, at a discounted rate from the normal application fee.
