Spending two years living in San Francisco turned Sager’s nose to wine, and gave him a passion to share his knowledge with those yet to discover an appreciation for it. California was where Sager had the remarkable opportunity to work under award-winning sommelier Raj Parr, who he considers a close friend and mentor, and learned the variances between wines from different vineyards, producers and vintages. 

Starting life as a pop-up in Shoreditch, Michael Sager soon built up a name for himself through his exciting yet affordable selection of wines. Fast forward to 2017 and the Sager & Wilde wine philosophy is continuing to gather momentum with a permanent wine bar open on Hackney Road and a bustling restaurant in Bethnal Green.

In Spring/Summer 2018, Michael will be opening Fare Bar and Canteen with Marcis Dzelzanis and Assembly Coffee in Clerkenwell. The venue will offer affordable healthy fare, sourdough pizza and mindblowing coffee all day amongst their signature cocktails and wines.

Michael has travelled extensively through Mexico, venturing into spirit heartlands of Puebla and Oaxaca, with his partners in crime, Marics Dzelzanis, Alex Wolpert and Jason Cox. They will be bringing some of the most incredible distillado de agave and rum through the project el.destilado to London.
