MW study programme wines 2017-2018

12 Jul 18

The Institute of Masters of Wine (IMW) would like to thank all those who generously supplied wines to the 2017-18 MW study programme. The wines were shown throughout the academic year at residential seminars in Adelaide (Australia), San Francisco (USA), Rust (Austria), Bordeaux (France) and Berkshire (UK) and at over 70 course days around the world.

The seminars and course days are part of the MW study programme and were attended by students pursuing the title of Master of Wine. There were over 350 students from 40 countries in the 2017-2018 MW study programme. Students at the course days and residential seminars were guided by over 100 Masters of Wine, who led tastings, theory sessions and mock exams. The wines, listed below, were used for the tastings and mock exams to steer students’ preparation for both the stage 1 assessment and the stage 2 MW examination.

The supply of the wines ensures the IMW can continue to offer the best possible experience to students on their journey to becoming a Master of Wine.

Notes to Editors:

About the Institute of Masters of Wine

The Institute of Masters of Wine is a membership organisation with an unsurpassed international reputation. The Masters of Wine (MWs) hold the most respected title in the world of wine. The IMW promotes excellence, interaction and learning across all sectors of the global wine community. MWs have proved their understanding of all aspects of wine by passing the MW examination, recognised worldwide for its rigour and high standards. In addition to passing the examination, MWs are required to sign a code of conduct before they are entitled to use the initials MW. The code of conduct requires MWs to act with honesty and integrity, and use every opportunity to share their understanding of wine with others. There are currently 370 Masters of Wine today, working in 28 countries. The membership encompasses winemakers, buyers, journalists, shippers, business owners, consultants, academics, and wine educators. There are over 350 students in the MW study programme from over 40 countries.
