Sustainable logistics and distribution

Description

This event has now closed.

How can the global wine trade reduce its logistics and distribution carbon footprint?

Wine gets into consumers’ glasses through a variety of distribution channels. With over half global wine production sold internationally, and a large amount of wine shipped to the other side of the world, the wine trade racks up substantial transport miles. A large proportion of exported wine is shipped in glass bottles so that wine packaging and logistics together account for approximately 50% of wine’s greenhouse gas emissions.

Following on from the previous discussion on wine packaging our panel will share practices to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in wine logistics and distribution and give insight into innovations for the future.

Panel:
Jane Masters MW (Moderator)
Marcus Ihre – Sustainability Manager, Systembolaget Sweden
Michael Maas – VP Sustainability Solutions Sea, Kuehne+Nagel Germany
Dom de Ville – Director of Sustainability and Social Impact, The Wine Society UK
