Fernando Mora MW and Jonas Tofterup MW to host online blind tasting competition

Fernando Mora MW and Jonas Tofterup MW have organised an online blind tasting competition to take place live via Instagram (@fernanadomoramw and @jonastofterupmw) on 22 May. The idea was to create a fun and social event for wine lovers and the Spanish wine trade whilst in lockdown and to raise money for #YoMeCorono, a charity working towards the development of medicine to help treat people with coronavirus.
Fernando and Jonas will have a company rebottle eight different wines into 20 ml sample bottles without the contact of oxygen and checking for TCA (guaranteeing the quality). The sample bottles will then be numbered and shipped to all participants a few days before the blind tasting takes place. They are expecting 200-400 participants.
This is a charity tasting. The only expenses are the wines for tasting, the company which rebottles the wines, shipping out samples and the first prize.
The first three prizes are as follows:
1st Prize
DRC La Táche 2016
2nd Prize
Bodegas Frontonio – Jardín de las Iguales red and white
Dinner for two at Restaurante Absinthium in Zaragoza
3rd Prize
Viña Valdivieso – 6 bottles of Caballo Loco Number 17
Magnums of Gosset Grand Reserve
Dinner for two at Restaurante Trigo in Valladolid (* Michelin)
The tasting will be in Spanish, and all participants must be based in Spain. Winners will be announced on 23 May via Instagram.
