Group of MWs speak at Grupo Rioja conference

Earlier this month Almudena Alberca MW, Pedro Ballesteros Torres MW, Sarah Jane Evans MW and Álvaro Ribalta Millán MW spoke at a Grupo Rioja conference at the Marqués de Riscal winery. Their theme was the future of Rioja. They discussed a range of topics, including the zonification and differentation of Rioja, the persistent threat of low pricing, the promising rise of white Rioja, paying growers properly for their grapes, and the relative absence of fine Rioja from international auction markets. Grupo Rioja is an IMW supporter and represents 55 wineries from the DOCa and more than 75 per cent of the region’s sales.
