Quinta do Noval Award holder Justin Martindale MW hosted at Quinta estate

Justin Martindale MW from Edinburgh is the current holder of the Quinta do Noval Award for the best dissertation from last year’s crop of MWs. As well as a cheque and a case of mixed wines and ports from Noval, he and his wife were treated to a weekend at the Quinta itself at the beginning of July.

They toured the vineyards, tasted remarkable wines and Vintage Ports, had a wide-ran going discussion with Noval’s technical director Carlos Agrellos – and relaxed by the pool. As Justin commented on their return: “We had such a brilliant trip! The hospitality at Noval was absolutely extraordinary – they were so generous with their time and opened some amazing wines for us. Noval will always have such a special place in my heart – we’ll be longing for that infinity pool when stuck under the Edinburgh gloom before long I’m sure!”

As a memento of the visit, Justin was presented with a bottle of Quinta do Noval’s rare Nacional Vintage 2020, on the Quinta terrace.
