Two Masters of Wine become Freemen of the Vintners’ Company

Last month, the Vintners’ Company inaugurated their 34 new Freemen at their Court of Binding ceremony. Of the 34, two are Masters of Wine Regine Lee MW and Jane Masters MW.

Regine Lee MW, who became a Master of Wine in 2018, is currently Managing Director at Indigo Wine. Regine has experience in: commercial strategy, operations, change management, sales, training/education, and buying. In 2015, Regine founded Women in Wine London, which now has 600 members and seeks to increase the presence of women in the wine industry.

Jane Masters MW earned the MW title in 1997 and served as Chair of the Institute in September 2016 for a two year term. With a varied background, Jane has worked in several sectors of the industry, most recently becoming Buying Manager at Majestic Wine. Alongside this, Jane works as an independent wine consultant, wine communicator and senior panel chair judge for the International Wine Challenge.

On the ordainment, Regine commented: “The Vintners Company have been an integral part of my wine career and are a big supporter of @womeninwineldn. I’m absolutely delighted to join this historic institution and hope to contribute to its charitable and wine industry work, which has been continuously evolving since the 13th century to today.”

Jane also added: “I am thrilled to become a Freeman of the Vintners Company, one of the Great 12 Livery companies of the City of London dating back to 1363.  As a Londoner, Master of Wine and someone who has worked in the wine trade for many years I feel particularly honoured to be part of the company which was has been so closely associated with and a powerful force in the wine trade and a founder of the Institute of Masters of Wine.”

The Vintners’ Company dubbed the new freemen ‘with a ready set of skills of value to the Company, along with representing the depth and breadth of the blossoming wine industry’.
