Since the first MW exam in 1953, 502 people have passed the exam to become a Master of Wine. The number of MWs active today is lower than this figure because some MWs have chosen to resign their MW status, while others have sadly died. Here you can find out more about those who have passed away. Where no photos are available, the IMW has created a personalised wine label, which includes the MW’s name, their MW number and the year they passed the MW exam.
