Jane has returned to occasional freelance work after a 10 year spell as Fine wine manager with JNwine. Before that she was an independent Wine Consultant and freelance wine writer. She has over forty years of experience in the wine trade, spanning all sectors of the business from buying to selling and shipping to marketing as well as the composition of wine lists for hotels and restaurants and the training of their staff. In 2000 she became Ireland’s first female Master of Wine and is still the only person to hold the qualification in Northern Ireland. As a freelance wine writer, Jane wrote the wine column for the Licensed Catering News, Irish Tatler and Easy Food, as well as pieces for the Irish Times, Food and Wine magazine and other publications in Ireland, UK and abroad. She lectures widely on food and wine and runs her own popular wine courses at an art gallery close to her home. She was also wine consultant to Ross’s Auction house in Belfast and has organised several highly successful wine auctions for them. Jane speaks fluent French and can converse in German, Spanish and Russian. Her experience as a wine judge is wide ranging. She has been adjudicator and key judge for the Irish Wine Show over the past two years and last year was on the Bordeaux panel for the Decanter World Wine Awards in London. Her International experience includes judging in Australia, South Africa, Italy and France.
