IN 1994 John Hoskins was the first person in the restaurant business to pass the MW exams, also winning the Bollinger Award. In the same year he set up his own company, Huntsbridge, a group of restaurants including The Old Bridge Hotel at Huntingdon, to which he added a wine shop. In August 2023 he sold Huntsbridge and now has more time for tasting and judging - whilst also being wine consultant for The George of Stamford. He was involved with MW education for 10 years, chaired the Practical Exam for 8 years and then the overall exam for a further 8 years.
