Martin Moran MW
Became an MW 1994
Based in Ireland
From 82-88 worked mostly, but not exclusively, in a variety of winebars, hotels and restaurants in London before spending a year travelling and working in cellars in Bordeaux, South Australia and in wine retail in New York. Returning to London I managed a shop for French merchants, Nicolas, before moving on to work in different vineyards in England for about two years. In 1992 I joined Oddbins in London. Following my MW pass I left Oddbins and England to join Gilbeys in Dublin in the spring of 1995 as Wine Development Manager. Left Gilbeys in June 2000 to become a freelance consultant and journalist. My main customer at the moment is The Sunday Times Irish edition and for 15 years talked about wine on Newstalk 106fm radio regularly too. Also teach, do events and judge including Panel chair at IWC.
