La Celia Masterclass

Description

Exploring the terroir and history of the first winery in the Uco Valley, Argentina.

IMW Major Supporter, VSPT, invites MWs and MW students to a masterclass at IMW HQ on the on the 18 February. Winemaker Andrea Ferreyra and Argentinian-born sommelier Valeria Gamper invite you to a vertical tasting that explores the exceptional terroir of La Celia. You will have the unique opportunity to sample a selection of vintages of La Celia’s Heritage Malbec and Cabernet Franc from the Uco Valley.

The journey begins with the very first vintage of Heritage Malbec, a milestone in the winery’s history. From there, they will guide you through a thoughtfully curated selection of vintages, illustrating the evolution in winemaking style—from Bordeaux-inspired to a fresher, more vibrant expression—culminating in the most recent vintage. Throughout the tasting, you’ll experience the impact of vintage variation, with notable moments including a pivotal change in style and the recognition of one harvest as one of the finest in Argentina’s history. As pioneers in planting Cabernet Franc in the Uco Valley, they will also offer a special selection of this iconic varietal, one of Argentina’s most emblematic grapes.

This is your chance to discover the unique character and potential of Cabernet Franc, a grape that has become a signature of La Celia.

A light lunch will be provided after the tasting
