“We are delighted to announce an exclusive trip to Turkey, taking place from Friday, October 30 – Thursday, November 6 2026.

This visit is generously supported by the Wine Producers Association of Türkiye under its international marketing brand ‘Wines of Türkiye’. The programme is curated by Caro Maurer MW, in collaboration with Wines of Türkiye and Taner Ogutoglu from Gustobar S. A. There will be space for 18 Masters of Wine.

The journey will begin in Istanbul (arrival at Istanbul airport), starting with a series of guided masterclasses introducing the ancient grape varieties found exclusively there. Another focus of the masterclasses will be Turkey’s wine regions. In addition, there will be plenty of time to explore the city’s sights, such as a boat trip on the Bosphorus and a tour of the old town.

From there, the tour group sets off for the wine-growing region of Thrace, where another masterclass will explore the current theme of ‘Women in Wine’. From Thrace, the tour group flies to Cappadocia, where, alongside further tastings and masterclasses, there will be the opportunity to take a hot-air balloon ride over the spectacular landscape. The final stop will once again be Istanbul, where Turkey’s wines will ultimately be pitted against the world’s finest in a comparative tasting.

For many Masters of Wine, this journey will be a voyage of discovery in a country where thousands of years of cultural history meet a surprisingly vibrant modern wine scene. Between the shores of the Mediterranean, the plains of Anatolia and the barren high plateaus lies one of the oldest wine-growing regions in the world. This is where numerous indigenous grape varieties have their roots, some of which have been cultivated since ancient times and have retained their distinctive character to this day. A wine tour of Turkey is therefore not only a pleasure, but also a journey of discovery into the origins of viticulture itself. This wine tour aims to combine enjoyment with an experience that is both educational and inspiring.”
