Jackson Family Wines becomes Major Supporter of Institute

The Institute of Masters of Wine is delighted to announce that Jackson Family Wines has become a major supporter of its work.

Jean-Michel Valette MW, current and first ever American Chairman of the Institute of Masters of Wine, said: “Our global family of supporters share a common commitment to excellence, interaction and learning. We are delighted to welcome Jackson Family Wines into our community and are particularly pleased to partner with another supporter in the United States. Although North Americans make up just over ten percent of our current membership, we have more candidates from the US in our study programmes than from any other country.”

Jackson Family Wines (JFW) is a family-owned company that crafts award-winning wines of distinct character and quality. With a focus on sustainable viticulture practices, responsible vineyard and natural resource management and meticulous winemaking, the family’s portfolio comprises more than 30 renowned wineries. In addition to their acclaimed California and Oregon producers, JFW includes fine wines from France, Chile, Italy and Australia. Founded in 1982 by wine pioneer, entrepreneur and philanthropist Jess Jackson, JFW and its various wineries are led by Barbara Banke (pictured above) and the Jackson family.

Barbara Banke, chairman and proprietor of Jackson Family Wines, said:

“We are so pleased to be partnering with the Institute of the Masters of Wine. There is, perhaps, no other organization in our industry with the history and prestige of the IMW. Their tireless work to preserve the integrity of the art and science of winemaking and wine education is a wonderful match for Jackson Family Wines. We are looking forward to a fruitful relationship.”

The Institute of Masters of Wine has 312 members in 24 countries, and this year celebrated the 60th Anniversary of the first Master of Wine examination with a week of special events in London.
