Message from the IMW Chair

Dear Friends
I hope that wherever this finds you, you and your family are well, and are facing the current circumstances with as much fortitude and good humour as you can muster. Our thoughts are with every one of you.
We are all experiencing some exceptionally tough challenges, and understand this will impact our lives for many more months.
I am writing to you today to let you know about some essential actions that we are taking in response to the coronavirus pandemic.
We have notified students that the 2020 closed book part of the MW exam and the stage one assessment are both cancelled.
The final part of the MW exam, the research paper, will continue as usual with consideration given for short-term timing issues.
Applications for the 2020/2021 study programme will be open as usual later this year. As our introductory courses and information sessions are all postponed, we are looking into developing online alternatives, within an extended time frame.
We have postponed upcoming tastings and seminars; new dates will be released as soon as possible later in the year.
The IMW executive team are working remotely. We continue to plan for a new set of circumstances in which the IMW will strengthen its position as a viable body that can help support the rebuilding of the global wine industry.
The situation will continue to evolve by the day, and we will respond as and when we need to.
Stay safe and best wishes to you all.
