Wine in Moderation Association joins as IMW’s second research and industry associate
Wine in Moderation and the Institute of Masters of Wine announce their collaboration as WiM joins as a research and industry associate, and their commitment to address alcohol-harm and alcohol abuse and/or misuse, by promoting a sustainable culture of wine.
The IMW first began working with Wine in Moderation in 2016. Since then both entities have grown and expanded, leading to the need to update and reinforce their collaboration. A new action plan has been drafted, laying the basis for a renovated commitment of both parties to raise knowledge on wine, responsible drinking, and healthy lifestyles within the wine sector.
The focus will be put on communication and education, two important missions both for Wine in Moderation and the IMW. The two entities will continue spreading the important message of moderation and will support their joint actions towards social responsibility through up-to-date information on their respective channels. Moreover, a mutual involvement is foreseen in the educational projects carried out by each entity, integrating their content, and expanding their reach.
Julian Gore-Booth, Executive Director of the Institute of Masters of wine, commented “The IMW is proud to partner with the WiM Association and we look forward to working together on our commitment to raise knowledge on wine, responsible drinking and healthy lifestyles..”
Nadia Frittella, Secretary General of the WiM Association, added: “Counting 415 Masters of Wine from 30 different countries, the IMW represents an invaluable partner for the programme that will continue spreading the Wine in Moderation message among wine professionals across the world. We are very happy to renew our cooperation with this prestigious wine institute, and we are looking forward to giving life to the new projects we have planned together.”

About the Institute of Masters of Wine (IMW)
The IMW is a membership organisation with an exceptional international reputation. For almost 70 years, its members – the Masters of Wine (MWs) – have been at the forefront of leadership and expertise in the world of wine. The IMW’s mission is to promote excellence, interaction and learning across all sectors of the global wine community. MWs prove their comprehensive understanding of wine by passing the MW exam, recognised worldwide for its rigour and exacting standards. In addition to passing the exam, members must sign the code of conduct before they are entitled to use the initials MW. This requires them to uphold the highest standards of commercial conduct within the industry. Today, there are 414 Masters of Wine working in 30 countries. The membership encompasses winemakers, sommeliers, buyers, journalists, shippers, consultants, viticulturalists, academics, educators and more. There are 307 students from 36 countries in the 2022-23 MW study programme. The IMW works with 34 supporters and two research and industry associates, who help promote the IMW’s mission. The five principal supporters are Austrian Wine, AXA Millésimes, Constellation Brands, the Madame Bollinger Foundation, and Waitrose and Partners.
