Pinot Bianco from Alto Aldige seminar and tasting
RegisterDescription
This online seminar, hosted by Nancy Gilchrist MW, will showcase 9 Alto Adige Pinot Bianco wines illustrating the remarkable quality and longevity that can be achieved with this often underrated grape. The wines will be introduced by selected producers who have conducted years of research into the terroirs at different altitudes and help us to understand more precisely the influence of climate change.
The seminar will touch on the pros and cons of altitude, including the effect on different acidities and flavour profiles, yields, and costs, as well as on vineyard management techniques. It will also consider different vinification decisions such as yeast selection, maturation vessel, and time ‘sur lies’, and discuss how these might contribute not only to the quality but the outstanding longevity of the wines.
Overall, the seminar will summarise some of the current thinking on altitude and climate change in this region and consider what changes the next ten to twenty years might bring. Ample time will be given for questions and answers.
The event will take place on April 17 at 10:30 am GMT. The deadline to sign up for this event is March 19.
