Waitrose & Partners

Waitrose is a long term supporter of the IMW’s education programme and became a principal supporter in August 2012.

Waitrose joined the John Lewis Partnership in 1937 as a chain of 10 specialist food shops, with the first supermarket opening in 1955. It has worked with producers and growers ever since, pioneering local and organic products and championing sustainable sourcing, to build a network of more than 350 shops around the UK known for the freshness, quality, safety and provenance of the food they sell. Waitrose also has seven shops in the United Arab Emirates and exports its own-label products to retailers all over the world.

Waitrose has more Masters of Wine than any other supermarket, and all its wines go through a rigorous selection and quality control process. It also has both beer, wine and spirit specialists and advisors in its branches, offering expert guidance to its discerning customers. Waitrose also has an illustrious track record for achievements in Wine retailing, for both innovation and retail excellence.

As the food and drinks division of the John Lewis Partnership, high customer service standards and a focus on quality make Waitrose a regular winner at awards ceremonies honouring the supermarket and drinks industries.
